Smart Energy GB is the national consumer engagement body tasked by government to support the smart meter rollout. Smart meters are the foundation of a smart energy system which will help get us to net zero carbon emissions.
Ahead of the new energy price cap coming into effect from 1st April, Smart Energy GB has worked with fuel poverty charity National Energy Action (NEA) to provide simple and helpful advice for anyone who is worried about their energy bills or falling into debt. You can find the information on their website
Anyone who prepays for their energy will also benefit from upgrading to a smart meter. Smart prepayment meters provide new ways to top up such as online, over the phone, via text, or by smart phone apps. The accurate and near real-time data allows energy suppliers to better serve and support prepay customers by offering tailored support such as emergency payment applied directly to the meter, or advice on managing energy costs. It also means that smart meters can help you keep track of your energy use and how much it’s costing, set budgets, and potentially save money on your energy bills.
If you don’t have a smart meter yet, you can get yours now at no additional cost from your energy supplier. Smart meters are digital versions of traditional gas and electricity meters, and they are currently being rolled out to homes and small businesses by energy suppliers.
