I welcome the Climate Assembly's report on meeting the Govt’s target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The transport sector still contributes 33% of all CO2 emissions in the UK, so I focussed on electric vehicles, decarbonising the rail network, and privatisation of public transport.
During Transport Oral Questions the Secretary of State, Grant Shapps, assured me that the Government will take forward the recommendation of the Williams Rail Review to set up an independent body and that we will not return to the days of the old British Rail.

Following the disappointment that my application to have a debate on Redundancies in the Aviation Sector was not scheduled before recess, the Backbench Business Committee have now provided a time when a debate on the Aviation Sector will be held.
During the Department for Work and Pensions Questions I had another chance to speak up for the aviation workforce and highlight British Airways treatment of staff, through their use of the Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme.
This week I asked the Transport Secretary why more has not been done to reform airline insolvency laws to reduce the risk of what happened to Thomas Cook happening again and when the Government will implement the recommendations of the Airline Insolvency Review.
