During the Easter recess, I met Crowhurst Parish  Councillors to discuss how disused Network-rail owned land could open up land for homes in the village. The village is working hard on a Neighbourhood Development Plan which supports suitable and sustainable homes.  A lot of hard work and expense goes into creating a Neighbourhood plan and I want to help and support this.  I will be contacting Network Rail to ask them to investigate the potential of releasing this site for development and connecting them to the team at Crowhurst.

We met at the station to view the potential site. Whilst there, we also stopped to admire the beautiful map of Crowhurst which had recently been commissioned and installed by the Southeast Community Rail Partnership.

Statement from Huw Merriman MP

Thursday, 23 May, 2024
After 9 years as the Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle, I have made the decision not to stand as a candidate at the next election. This means I will also leave my job as Rail Minister on 4 July. I have loved being an MP and I leave with a heavy heart.
