It was announced this morning that Heathfield Youth Centre is to benefit from more than £5 million of investment secured by East Sussex County Council from the Government’s Youth Investment Fund.
As one of 44 youth projects to benefit across England, and one of two here in East Sussex, the funding will help Heathfield Youth Centre boost the regular, positive activities that young people are involved in locally. This will empower them to be active members of their community, whilst boosting their health, wellbeing, skills, and access to new opportunities.
Greater provision for young people living in rural areas is essential and so I am delighted that East Sussex County Council has been successful in securing £5,134,770 for Heathfield.
The Youth Investment Fund was launched by Government in August last year with a call for youth services in the country’s most underserved areas to apply for a slice of funding worth over £300 million. Today’s announcement allocates another £70 million in grants to 44 youth projects across England, helping youth projects reach an additional 12,000 young people with the aim of reaching 45,000 by 2026/27.
