In this morning's Digital, Culture, Media and Sport questions, Local MP Huw Merriman asked the Tourism Minister to help him better promote Sussex Modern Trail.
Huw Merriman MP:
Last weekend, I visited the beautiful Rathfinny Vineyard, last summer I met with the Minister in the De La Warr Pavilion. These are two gems and part of the Sussex Modern Trail, which links together our vineyards with our cultural and artistic icons. Would it be possible for the Minister to meet with me to discuss why it is that Southern Rail are not promoting tourism offers such as these? It would not only provide a great boost to their own passenger numbers, needed after COVID-19, but it would also boost tourism in Sussex and and elsewhere in the country.
The Tourism Minister, Nigel Huddleston MP:
I was delighted to visit my Honourable Friend’s constituency last year. He's got many gems, cultural, historic, heritage as well as tourist attractions, so I can see why so many people would want to visit his part of the world. I'd be delighted to meet with him and discuss his proposals, some of which I think would involve some engagement across government departments and I would be happy to facilitate those conversations as well.
