The Agriculture Bill will be debated on 10 October in Parliament. This is new legislation will cover the future of farming after we leave the EU and the Common Agricultural Policy. It is a vital piece of legislation for not only our farmers who make their living from the land but every constituent who enjoys this rural expanse. 

I am keen to speak up in support of the needs of my local farming community. To get this voice delivered, I am appealing for farmers to get in touch with me, before 10 October, with their views on the Bill. The initial proposals are set out in a letter to me from the Environment Secretary, Michael Gove. Attached below.

Do you think there is enough certainty around subsidies? Is the proposed mix between environmental stewardship and food production clear and, if so, striking the correct balance? Do you support paying off farmers to hand over the reigns to those with fresh ideas? Would it mean land being transferred to the wealthy who work in London and may not be interested in farming or land management or free up farmland for the next generation of farmers?
