With Network Rail causing over 60% of all delays to railway journeys, it was timely to interview their newly appointed Chief Executive to see what his priorities are. I questioned him on the impact of Network Rail’s debt (£50billion) and its annual interest bill (over £1billion). I asked, in light of the sale of railways arches and other property to investment funds, if stations would be sold off next. If not, I asked for an assurance that extra investment in helping those with mobility issues to access stations would continue. On that note, I put in a bid for Battle Station. I am working with residents in Battle to win a share of a fund to turn the station into an accessible venue for passengers with disabilities or mobility needs.
