Ensuring that our local schools are adequately funded has been a cause for me since coming to Parliament. Last month, I welcomed the extra finance from the Government which will see schools in the constituency receive, on average, an extra 6% on top of their budgets. There is still more to do to ensure that our schools in East Sussex receive the same basic amount per pupil as metropolitan areas in the country. Obviously many agree judging by the numbers who came to Parliament from across Parliament to lobby their MP on October 24th. Coming up from the Bexhill and Battle constituency were Pippa Boreham and daughter Stevie who talked with great knowledge and passion about the need to keep our schools well resourced. I was delighted to meet Pippa and Stevie and applaud all who are keeping this campaign on the front-foot.
