Works to install a new pipeline along Netherfield Road will now begin on Monday 25 September. The works had been schedule to start on Monday 11 September. The delay is to allow South East Water time to carry out valve repair work along Netherfield Road.
The new pipeline is part of Southern Water's plan to convert the existing Netherfield Treatment works into a pumping station. They will be starting work along Netherfield Road, near the junction of Darvel Down. Works will then continue towards Virgins Lane via Wattle’s Wish. The pipeline will continue along Virgins Lane until it reaches the discharge manhole near Whatlington Road. It is anticipated that the works will take a period of about 14 months.
Whilst these works are good news, I recognise that they will cause disruption for residents. I would advise all those who think they may be affected to visit Southern Water's website by clicking here to find out more.
