At this morning's Transport Select Committee session, we heard from the CEO of Gatwick Airport, Stewart Wingate, who spoke on a range of issues affecting the airport. One of those was the airport's proposals to boost capacity through expansion which will impact us locally.
Gatwick is important both nationally, and for our local region, helping to create jobs and drive economic investment. The airport has developed proposals the bring their existing standby runway, also known as the Northern Runway, into routine use alongside their Main Runway. During this morning's session, Mr Wingate explained how far the proposals have been developed and what the next steps are likely to be over the next couple of years.
