Transport Select Committee: Taxi and Private Hire Reform

The Task and Finish Group (TFG) on Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing was commissioned in 2017 by the Department of Transport to investigate current regulatory legislation in the taxi and private hire sector.

This week, the Transport Select Committee took evidence from the Chair of the TFG, Professor Mohammed Abdel-Haq on the recommendations raised in the report. These include setting national minimum standards for taxi and PHV licensing, for drivers, vehicles and operators as well as setting high levels of passenger safety.

Huw asked the Chair what the takeaways of the report were as well whether there had been any disagreements when drafting the report.
