Transport Select Committee: Questioning Allan Cook, Chair of HS2

In this week’s Transport Select Committee session, we questioned Allan Cook, the chair of High Speed 2 (HS2), on the progress of the project and discussed potential barriers it faces.

I asked him whether we had lost our bottle when it came to delivering large, long-term infrastructure projects in this country. I received an impassioned response about the benefits of this ambitious programme.

Statement from Huw Merriman MP

After 9 years as the Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle, I have made the decision not to stand as a candidate at the next election. This means I will also leave my job as Rail Minister on 4 July. I have loved being an MP and I leave with a heavy heart.
