This week the Transport Select Committee launched it's inquiry into the funding and management of local roads. Huw asked a panel of experts on their assessment of Highways England - whether the government agency was efficient at its job, whether it prioritised its strategic goals over the maintenance of local roads and whether it had been impacted by the reduction of its budget.
He also asked if local authorities were wasting money through short-term planning; suggesting that they look at long-term cost savings as well as asking whether the Highways Act of 1980, which governs the way the road network operates, needed an overhaul.
