Huw expressed his frustrations at news that a Russian official is set to become the president of Interpol stating that Russia was allowed to politically “get away with it.” He asked the Foreign Office minister whether the UK representative to Interpol would have an opportunity to express that the UK along with other countries would form a separate body from Interpol should the election of the official go ahead. Later, Huw asked the Minister whether further UN peacekeepers would be deployed to help protect health workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the death toll from an Ebola outbreak continues to rise and where violence has hindered relief efforts.
