Huw was delighted to launch a brand new fleet of buses along the Eastbourne to Hastings route last week.
Bus operator, Stagecoach, unveiled the £2.5 million worth of ultramodern double-decker buses last week which will operate along the popular coastal route '99' branded the 'Wave'.
The 12 new state-of-the-art vehicles feature free WiFi and USB charging points for customers to keep connected and fully charged while on the move.
Philip Norwell, Managing Director, said "This is exciting news for our customers and for people thinking of choosing to use the bus. The route maintains important links between coastal towns and with these new buses we hope to tempt more people to try the service."
The British built buses meet the latest European emissions standards and, like the rest of the fleet, run on a greener fuel blend which contains at least 20 percent biofuel derived from a range of waste products.
Huw said “I was pleased to officially launch the new fleet of Stagecoach buses that will operate between Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings last Friday. The new buses will offer so much more comfort to passengers who I am sure will also appreciate the free Wifi and mobile charging points on board– this is far more than our local trains currently provide!
"Stagecoach’s investment in this new fleet demonstrates how well public and private sector can work together to improve transport links for local residents. The improvements made to the A259 by East Sussex County Council prioritised bus travel between Bexhill and Hastings. Alongside the delivery by the public sector of the Link Road, this has given Stagecoach the incentive to invest in new buses on a route that is now faster and more reliable for its passengers.”
