Pevensey MP, Huw Merriman visited Pevensey Bay on Friday 26th January for a ‘Meet your MP’ Drop-In session at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall.
At the busy lunchtime session, Huw chatted to constituents about both local issues and national policy concerns. Plenty of topics were covered in the one and a half hour meeting including: public transport and roads, healthcare, kinship carers, sea defences, Royal Mail delays and the local library service.
Huw was actively involved in helping volunteers saving the local library service in 2016. It is now a successful community-led library service and hub and is looking to secure its long-term future in the heart of the village. Huw committed to help the Pevensey Community Library as its future plans develop.
The drop-in MP session was supported by Pevensey Parish Council. Huw also met with some of their members to discuss issues beforehand in the bustling village bakery and café.
After the meeting, Huw said:
“It was great to visit Pevensey Bay this week. I very much enjoyed chatting to constituents and hearing their thoughts and concerns. I am hoping to hold lots more of these sessions across the constituency and look forward to meeting as many of my constituents as I can. I’d like to thank the Parish council for helping me organise today’s event and getting me out and about in their wonderful village.”
