It’s important that those who need hospital treatment for reasons other than Coronavirus still seek the treatment and not leave it too late.
In our area, we have had great success in ensuring those who are well enough to leave hospital do so in order to free up the Coronavirus capacity to a worst-case scenario. The same applies for GP surgeries. Our peak was not as sharp as feared and planned. Provided we keep on self-distancing and self-isolating, this means more capacity in hospitals.
We do not want people going to A&E or their GP unnecessarily (and let’s hope we don’t go back to how we were before). Equally, we do not want people to wait unnecessarily before being treated. It would be a tragedy if we got over the Coronavirus outbreak only to find other conditions have not been treated early enough. It’s a difficult balancing act but the message is clear; if you absolutely need to go to your GP and your A&E because you are very unwell, please do so.
