Huw Merriman MP is looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual with good people skills to help with casework at his Bexhill Constituency Office. This local full-time post focuses on dealing with constituents’ problems and enquiries.
- Duties and responsibilities include:
- Dealing with post, emails and telephone enquiries and taking appropriate action to resolve constituents’ concerns
- Drafting replies to constituents’ correspondence on a wide range of issues
- Liaising with councillors, local agencies, the government and the voluntary sector on casework and local issues to resolve matters
- Organising and attending constituency surgeries
- General office administrative duties
Skills required:
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
- Quick and efficient work style
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels
- Be able to deal with issues in a sensitive and confidential manner
- Strong IT skills
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in dealing with members of the public
- Enthusiasm and self-motivation as well as a sense of humour
- Car driver
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO).

Salary scale between £16,000-23,000 depending on skills and experience
