Bexhill College marked Apprenticeships Week (14 to 18 March) with a launch of the Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair to students on Friday 18 March.
Stewart Drew, CEO of the De La Warr Pavilion, Martin Riley, President of the Bexhill Chamber of Commerce and Huw Merriman MP visited the college last Friday to tell the students about the Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair which takes place on Friday 29 April from 10 to 3pm at the De La Warr Pavilion.
Bexhill College is a proud partner in this community-led event which aims to put Bexhill firmly on the map as a town ‘Ready for Growth’ and a great place to work and live. The Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair is open to all ages but is particularly aimed at 16-24 year olds to give them the opportunity to find out about the wide range of career opportunities with local employers. As well as offering jobs, apprenticeships and training, the event aims to showcase the wide range of careers that are available with local businesses and organisations.
Huw said “It was great to meet the students of Bexhill College to talk to them about the Jobs Fair and good to understand what they hope to get from the event. I am confident that they will find this isn’t just any old Jobs Fair – this is a fantastic opportunity to be surprised and impressed by the diverse range of businesses offering real career opportunities in our area.”
Martin said ““It was very exciting to hear how many students, given the opportunity, would like to work locally; which is what this event is all about - creating careers and a future for our young talent is essential to us all!"
Karen Hucker, Bexhill College Principal said ““Thank you to Huw, Martin and Stewart for an engaging talk with our students to promote the Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair. With information on so many career opportunities in the local area this event will be invaluable to young people.”
